haha. I'm glad you're writing after having a baby. it's such an insane and insanely precious time. I wish I had written more and captured those emotions when my kids were babies. Cheers Tessa!
Every single point I found myself nodding along like YES. ESPECIALLY never yucking anyone else's yum. And also the nice clothes bullet? I used to be an "I don't care what I wear" person and for the last few years I've been especially conscientious about the clothes I put on, almost like they have energy. I am happy to hear about your baby's poop and little weird red spot at ANY TIME β€οΈ
Right re nice clothes?! Iβve also found myself getting manicures and my eyebrows done post partum (very much not a thing I ever did before) and itβs really lifting my mood and general vibe. Finally understanding the whole concept of being βgroomedβ. Itβs a really antidote to baby spit up
I relate to this 100 percent β still havenβt gotten my nails done but I had my hairstylist make me as βblonde as possibleβ when my hair didnβt fall out and I couldnβt be happier lol
This is a great piece! Restacking. If people unsubscribed because of this, just smile and wave goodbye π. Like you and others, I'm still working on much of this and trying to pass it on to my now almost 20 year old (gulp--I mean, in my brain she is still a baby, and to this day I call her baby girl), but it is all most definitely a lifelong learning process. I'm confident your son will appreciate reading this and anything else you write for him many years from now. π
A few people did π but a few subscribed too. Each to their own! Iβm so happy you read it, enjoyed it and restocked it (the ultimate substack compliment!!) xx
The baby brain is real. Mine is 2.5 and I keep thinking I want to write about so many other things yet she is my consistent companion I brain right now. Dressing up saves me every day. Itβs one of my mental health hacks.
This is a beautiful list. π«Άπ»
Thank you Elaine π Iβm so happy you read it!
sleep thief/king of my heart, describes them perfectly :)
this list is a gift. may this pass on to the next gen!
Those little babies are full of paradoxes π

A delightful read. Keep them coming.
Ps, I read βeuthanasiaβ instead of βenthusiasm,β giving the intro an entirely different start.
lol how very confusing for you π keep them coming I will x
Such a beautiful list!! He is one lucky baby.
You can tell it's come straight from the (sleep-deprived) heart. (And that's my intuition speaking, not my asshole).
Thank you hunny! Iβd even trust your assholeβs judgement!

Baby rain is the realest. It also prevented me from seeing all the typos in this piece π
